UCI Road World Championships
Category: Global NewsThis Wednesday the 76th World Championships starts in Mendrisio, Switzerland. The prestige’s race is this year held on a demanding course around the town of Mendrisio that will suit the strong climbers well. But before the road races are held this weekend both the U23, women’s and men’s Time Trail race will take part.
From Team Saxo Bank a whole bunch of riders are participating and in the men’s time trail race both Fabian Cancellara and Gustav Larsson are two of the main favorites to win the title. Perhaps the can repeat the successful time trail race from last years Olympic Games when Fabian took the gold medal ahead of Gustav…?
The road race will be a tough day in the saddle for all the guys, the course is 262.2 km long and a total 19 laps around the 13.8km circuit will be raced. As if not the distance was enough the course includes a total of 4,655 m elevation gain as well…
From Team Saxo Bank Andy Schleck is one of the main favorites, but he will have to do one of the best races in his carrier to win the title. Damiano Cunego, Alejandra Valverde, Philippe Gilbert are three riders among others that are possible winners.
