A front group of favorites came to the finish in Sittard together where they took the final corner a bit too hot. Jürgen Roelandts (Omega Pharma-Lotto) rolled a tubular and caused a chain reaction for those behind. Race leader Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky Procycling) managed to avoid the carnage that disrupted the final sprint to take the stage win and secure overall victory.
