Four disciplines, 423 km, 24 hours – CRAFT athlete Andreas Lindén attempts a new record for the Swedish Classic.

“En Svensk Klassiker”, the Swedish Classic Circuit, is a diploma awarded to those who have finished races in four disciplines during a twelve month-period. To get honoured, you have to complete four challenges: the official 90 km cross country skiing track “, 300 km by bike around the second largest lake in Sweden (“), the open water swimming “with about 3 km in length and the 30 km cross country running track “NowAndreas Lindén, a 20 year-old Swede, has the amazing intention to finish all 4 disciplines within 24 hours!

On June 19, he will start with the “”. As there is no natural snow in summer, he has no other choice than starting this discipline on a pair of roller-skis instead of cross-country skis. The track follows the road lying beside the official skiing track – and it is even longer (93 km). Five hours are scheduled for this first round. After the cross-country skiing he dashes straight away by car to the swimming venue. Hopefully no more than an hour later Andreas will get out of water and the helicopter takes him to lake “Vättern” for the cycling start. The young Swede is an excellent cyclist, so he hopes to take the 300 km around the second largest Swedish lake in 7 hours. To finish this amazing athletic performance he will be taken by helicopter again to his last challenge, the 30 km cross country run. Due to the struggle behind him he is calculating 2,5 hours for the last hurdle on the way to a new record. “It’s a crazy thought that this might be possible. But thinking twice and counting the time needed for every single part of it, I think it is possible indeed. I’ve done nothing else than training and planning for this in the last four months, 30-38 hours every week”, Andreas says optimistically.

Good luck Andreas, we’re crossing fingers!
