The fun begins

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Last working day this week, so on Monday we are going  with the whole waxingteam up to Bruksvallarna to be there for testing. We will be there until 12 november. There will be ten very hard working days from early morning to late evening. On these days we’ll have time for a great deal of testing to be ready for the first World Cup in Norwegian, Beitostolen. Then we have certainly found a number of goldenpair of skis that we hope can give Sweden great success throughout the winter! Looks right now like it may be some natural snow in the first week which would have guaranteed a very good test conditions. Now the fun begins!

A tip 3

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

When you are waxing with gripwax remember that it is also important to have a good basewax for success with the waxing. The basewax can both provide a better grip and better glide. So put down some time on the base!

Time for some relax

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Not many days left now. It`s time to load up the Waxingtruck  full of materials in Östersund. Otherwise we  send skis across the country, ready-prepared skis sent to the truck and the whole factory new skis are sent for grinding to Funäsdalen where our grinder is always ready. Then it`s time to pick up the ski clothes again, too. And to take time for relax a bit now before the season kicks off seriously.

A tip 2

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

When you are waxing with parafin ensure that the waxingiron is hot enough so that you basically only have to glide over the surface twice with the iron to cover it with parafin. If you have too low temperature it`s very likely that you have to cross the surface many times and this may easily happen that you burn the skis!

Wet to very cold

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
One week left now until the camp in Bruksvallarna, where it is planned that we will have as much testing as possible, last year we were lucky with the weather when we were there for 10 days with many different conditions ranging from wet to very cold . Hope it will be a bit colder up there this week so they can make even more artificial snow. First, we test the athletes skis then there will also be some other interesting tests, that I have big hope for.

Artificial snow

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Now it’s also good to ski at Idrefjäll! Look at the pictures and you will see that they have put out a good bed with artificial snow on a 2km long loop, it goes really well to go on new skis up there if you’re eager to try your new skis.

New skis

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Today the A-team finished their camp in Bruksvallarna. We have more than a week left until we waxers go up to Bruksvallarna for testing new skis. So right now we are working hard with the preparations to the camp. Hope it becomes a bit more cold nights, so it can be made more artificial snow up there so that we can test skis even down in the village.

A tip

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

When you wax your skiis with kickwax, it is much better to use many thin layers than a few thick layers!

One month left

Monday, October 19th, 2009

The days roll on fast now, there are a lot of work to do before we can start testing the new skis! The days consist of preparation of skis and some other things that need to be prepared at home before the season kicks off . Conditions  in Bruksvallarna for test is good up on Kläppen but otherwise a bit hard to get really good tests. But Stefan works on there a few more days before the camp ends with a bit of testing and service to the athletes and a bit self-training! Since the camp moved became a minibus left in Munich with a lot of skis and other materials, it has to go home this week, Mats is down there to pick it up and take the opportunity to visit some factories! The waxtruck has this weekend been in Östersund, in connection with the ski exhibition there. Mats were also having a lecture about waxing there on Saturday!

A competition day

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

We arrive at the competition site the first thing you do is check out how the tracks look like then you go back to the truck where we might go through what to test, we begin to do the final preparation of racing skis, and helps make the system for the testskiis. Both glide and grip wax tests usually starts about two hours before the first start.

We usually get the glidetest first so that we can make the glide on skis ready, about one and a half hours before we find out about how it looks with gripwax, we usually have a waxing place close the track where we make the final  waxing then we can also get the final reports of the gripwax testpilot. Then we help the skier to test their skis and usually make a small correction before it is completely clear. Then, it is just  hope that you managed to do your job!

The Waxtruck on tour

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009
Today will the waxingtruck be on a visit to the ski trade show in Sundsvall, it is Craft who has borrowed our truck. It is our waxer Mats that will drive the truck to Sundsvall and he will also have a waxing course on location which will certainly be appreciated! Do you live in Sundsvall, you should make a visit and see how the truck looks!

Great skiing

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Our glide tester Stefan reports that there are excellent conditions in Bruksvallarna. It is possible to test new skis there! Sounds really good for us, we will wait for a few days because it’ll be a bit warmer for a few days now, before we send up more waxers. But Stefan has begun testing, including various structures. Otherwise, the work rolls on as usual with the preparation of skis and a bit different preparation before the season kicks off.

See the image with Jesper Modin from Bruksvallarna! Fantastic skiing!

Hard work

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Do you think that waxing is difficult and complicated? The mystery of a successful waxing is to work systematically, keeping it all simple, and perhaps most important to work hard. If you succeed to fill in these three points, you can almost expect to succeed with a competition waxing.

If you have any questions about waxing leave a comment and we’ll try to answer your question!

Testing can start!

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Now you can really go skiing! A-Team goes to Bruksvallarna for a ten-day camp today. The conditions which is to be first class for a snow camp in October with 3-4 dm of snow and a variety of tracks drawn up.

We’ll also send up Stefan, our glide tester, directly today to check out the situation and to implement a lot of testing there. If there is good test conditions we will possibly send more waxers to join a little later in the week. Being able to begin testing new skis so early would mean that we are well placed before the first World Cup in Norway !

Läger pågång

Friday, October 9th, 2009

WAX ON!

These are busy days for the waxing staff of the Swedish national XC team. The start of the cross-country ski season is just weeks away and the staff is currently performing a great number of equipment tests. Among many other things, the seven staff members try out loads of new skis and ski structures as well as new waxes and wax compositions.

During October you will be able to follow the daily life and busy work of the Swedish XC waxing staff here at our website. The staff members will provide you with a behind-the-scene look of their work and most surely give you some waxing advice as well.
