Kasper Klostergaard in a long breakaway

Category: Global News

Team Saxo Bank was in the front during the 248 kilometer long stage from Bressanone to Mayerhofen in Austria.

Danish Kasper Klostergaard was present in today's major breakaway over more than 170 kilometres and struggled impressively beautiful after initially being dropped by Michele Scarponi (Diquigiovanni). As Stefano Garzelli (Aqua & sapone) launched an attack from the peloton and re-opened the race, Klostergaard followed him but had to forfeit just like Garzelli with 30 kilometers left of the stage.

The main field was chasing Scarponi in vain, and the Italian rider took an impressive solo victory in one of the longest stages of the Giro. Matt Goss was seen at the front in the strongly reduced main group sprint and took fifth place.
